Newsletter – April/May 2015

Dear Friends and Patrons,

Colorful_tulips

Once again thank you for your ongoing support and interest in the Toronto Welsh Male Voice Choir. “Spring has Sprung, the grass has ‘riz’, I wonder where da birdies is?” Despite the hint of snow in Toronto over the Easter weekend we are all glad to see and feel the change in weather. Spring comes with a host of concerts and travel opportunities for the choir.

UPCOMING CONCERTS

Music lovers in the Ottawa, Lindsay, Belleville and Oshawa/Pickering/Ajax and Whitby areas are in for a treat. The choir will be touring to Ottawa and Lindsay (April 10-12), appearing in Belleville on Sunday April 26th and hosting the Spring Gala Concert in Whitby on May 2nd at 7:30pm at Westminster United Church. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

The TWMVC has “supported in song” more than 50 organizations over its 20 year existence. Our individual choristers support and volunteer at many organizations.

As part of our ongoing community outreach, the choir has joined forces with the geriatric rehabilitation unit at the Toronto Rehabilitation Hospital where music is a valued therapeutic tool.

TWMVC-Toroto Rehab Hospital

A group of choir members are singing on a regular basis for patients who are confined because of illness, severe memory loss and resulting difficulties in communicating. Connections are made through song as evidenced by humming and the tapping of feet as memories are triggered by the music. In addition to the regular visits of choristers the choir also performed a pro bono concert on March 22nd to the delight of patients, their families and staff. This is a very rewarding activity for the choir and an example of our giving back to the community.

WEBSITE UPDATES

The choir website (welshchoir.ca or twmvc.com) is a living, breathing entity that is constantly being updated with new information. Currently we are optimizing the site for the various search engines, adding more multi-media and introducing quick links so you can move around the site more efficiently. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and appreciated. Please feel free to sign our guestbook or contact our webmaster directly at twmvc.fans@gmail.com if you think we are missing something you feel is important.

Happy Spring Everyone!
